Steuben County chairman Shawn Hogan not among them

Sheldon Silver, the Democrat speaker of the Assembly wants his fellow Democrat to get out of town now.  Silver, considered the most powerful Dem in Albany, is saying that Gov. David Paterson should resign his office now and let  Lt. Gov.Richard Ravitch take over.  Silver is not alone.  The Albany Times-Union reports that county chairmen in the Albany area are also pushing for a resignation.

However, Mayor Shawn Hogan tells us that he "is not one to kick a man when he's done."  Hogan added that if an investigation determines "Paterson knew his security guards were trying to force" a New York woman to drop charges against Paterson aide Dave Johnson, he (Hogan) would think it's time for Paterson to step down.

Meanwhile, says Hogan, Paterson should be left alone to govern New York.

Paterson has brushed aside any talk of resignation saying he wants to concentrate on the overwhelming fiscal crisis facing the state.
