Corruption and more corruption

Recently, the feds opened an investigation into the activites of two prominent Queens Democrats who raised money for victims of Hurricaine Katrina but not all the money is accounted for. Only a small portion of the $31,000 raised ever went to the victims.  Investigators are looking into the activies of former Congressman Gregory Meeks and State Senator Malcom Smith, both Democrats from Queens. A little over $3,100 was actually given to the Katrina victims according to sources close to the investigation.

Now, Fred Dicker is reporting in the New York Post that there is another investigation underway regarding the awarding of a contract for the Aqueduct Racetrack video-slots project.  Leaks from the investigation suggest that high ranking Democrats in Albany and New York City may be involved in corrupt practices.  One of the subjects in the investigation is a close friend of Gov. David Paterson.

A lawyer for Paterson says the governor is not the object of the investigation.
