Janet M. Young, 68,
of Lattimer Hill Road, Arkport,
passed away early Tuesday morning (Feb. 5, 2013) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
Born in North Hornell on May 31, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Clair and Esther Lawrence Dennis. On June 15, 1963 she was married in Arkport to Richard Young, who predeceased her in 2001 after 38 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Ann Ostrowski and Kathryn Stringing.
A resident of the Arkport area for most of her life, Janet was a graduate of Canaseraga Central School.
Along with her husband, Richard, she was the co-owner of Young Hill Dairy Farm on Lattimer Hill Road and most recently she has operated the Young Hill Ostrich and Emu Farm and Shop. Besides selling her products at her shop she also sold them at The Windmill in Penn Yan every Saturday, for the past 14 years.
Janet loved animals, flowers and especially enjoyed trips to the Casinos.
Her family includes her two children, Susan (Stephen) Brady of Pepperell, Mass. and James Young of Hornell; her three grandchildren, Stephanie (Wade) Bergeron of Manchester, N.H., Patrick Brady and Shannon Brady both of Pepperell, Mass.; her three brothers, Donald (Linda) Dennis of Arkport, Andrew (Sharon) Dennis of Canaseraga and Carlton Dennis (Charlotte Malone) of Wellsville; her brother-in-law, Thomas Stringing of Webster; several cousins, including Brenda Drake of Arkport; also nieces and nephews, as well as her companion of the past 11 years, Ronald Hetrick; Ron’s daughter, Pamela (Jeff) Gaudioso of Dansville; and her good friend, Charles Bartlett of Arkport.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 285 Main St., Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, with her nephew, Pastor Donald “Denny” Dennis officiating. Private interment will be at Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport.
