Rally Falls Short For Dodgers Against the Geneva Redwings
Hornell is now 16-10 while Geneva is 14-11
The Hornell Dodgers fell behind 5-0 early to the Geneva Red Wings but rallied to climb back into the game but were unable to come all the way back and fell 7-5 on Wednesday night.
Geneva scored five runs in the 2nd inning to take the early lead. They led 6-2 heading into the 6th inning before the Dodgers put the pressure on. The Dodgers loaded the bases and cut the lead to 6-4 with no outs but the Red Wing bullpen wiggled out of trouble and allowed just one more run.
The Dodgers had threats in the 7th, 8th but couldn't tie the game. Geneva added an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th and held the Dodgers off the board once again in the 9th.
The Red Wings top two hitters in their line-up Leon Stimpson and Max Casper finished 7 for 9 with four runs scored and 2 RBI while the Geneva bullpen didn't allow a hit in four innings of work.
Jake Matuszak (Central Connecticut) was 3 for 5 with a RBI, JP Frey (Alfred State) was 3 for 4, and Omar Garcia (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) was 2 for 4 with a RBI.
Joe Wallace (SUNY Cobleskill) kept the Dodgers in the game with 2.1 innings of one run relief.
