Dodgers Sweep Silversmiths Saturday Afternoon in Doubleheader
They won the opener 4-3 and the nightcap 3-1 to improve to a NYCBL West Division leading 16-9.
Jake Matuszak (Central Connecticut) was 3 for 3 in the opener while Chase Presley (Harding) was 2 for 4 to pace the Dodgers offense in game one. Presley drove in two including connecting on a solo homer, his league leading 4th, in the 7th. Andy Smietana (U of Buffalo) was 2 for 4.
Cameron Walker (Harding) allowed six hits and five walks in 5.1 innings of work to pick up the win. He allowed just one run while striking out five. Garrett Guys (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) worked out a jam in the 6th and DJ Schwartz (U of Rochester) got the final three outs to earn his 7th save. Schwartz surrendered a two-run homer in the 7th but left the tying run on base as he recorded the final out.
Jeramie Maerk led the way in game two for the Dodgers as he finished 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. He had a RBI single in the 1st and a RBI groundout in the 3rd. Cody Stevenson (Webster) added an insurance run in the 7th when he connected on a RBI single. Seven Dodgers collected one hit in the contest.
Mark Ciccotti (Brockport) went the distance to pick up the victory. He allowed one run and five hits while walking four and striking out three.
The blue & white have the next three days off before heading to McDonough Park for a 7 p.m. contest with the Geneva Red Wings.
