Dodgers Rally Falls Short Against Webster Yankees

The Yankees improve to 8-4 on the season and have a .5 game lead over the Dodgers (7-4) in the Western Division standings

The Hornell Dodgers fell behind 8-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th but rallied to make it 8-6 and had the bases loaded in the 9th before the Webster Yankees recorded the final out.  The Yankees improve to 8-4 on the season and have a .5 game lead over the Dodgers (7-4) in the Western Division standings.

Trailing 8-2 in the 7th, Chase Presley (Harding University) made it 8-4 with a 2-run double.  Omar Garcia (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) cut it to 8-5 with a RBI single.

In the 8th, the Dodgers added another run when Cody Stevenson (Webster University) scored on a passed ball.

Jeramie Marek (Texas A&M Corpus Christi) led of the 9th with a double to send the tying runner to bat.  Webster pitcher Matt Jimenez struck out the next two batters but walked Matt Moore (Webster) and Stevenson to load the bases before striking out the next batter to close out the game.

Marek and Stevenson were each 2 for 4 while Garcia and Andy Smietana (Buffalo) were each 2 for 5.

The Dodgers head to Alfred State College on Sunday for a Father's Day 3 p.m. contest with the Thunder.
