State Budget May Be Ready On Time
There has been a "conceptual" agreement on a $135.1-billion spending plan
According to reports from Albany, there has been a conceptual budget agreement, although some key details still have to be worked out.
Some key elements of the $135.1-billion budget would include:
an increase in the minimum wage from $7.25 to $9 an hour over three years;
$350 rebate checks to households making between $40,000 and $300,000 with a dependent child under the age of 18;
tax relief for businesses;
phasing out the 18-a utility surcharge;
and an increase in the money given in base aid to schools.
The state budget is due April first.
