Bank Robbery Suspect's Name Released

ALFRED, NY - Alfred Village Police report that Scott J. Wade, 51, is the supsect in the bank robbery that happened this afternoon. Alfred Police say Wade was seen leaving a bank when a customer followed him out of the bank, shouting and pointing "bank robber!" Police say that others on the street joined in on the short foot chase, which went from a parking lot on Main Street on to the Alfred University campus. After that, Wade got into a vehicle and drove away. Alfred Police say that Wade took off in his vehicle at a high rate of speed, and that Wade lost control of his vehicle and crashed.
Wade was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Alfred P.D. were assisted by Alfred State College Police, NYSP and the state police's BCI.
Wade was remanded to Allegany County Jail, $100,000 bail.
It has not been determined yet if Wade is the suspect in the bank robbery which occurred on January 4.
