Dozens Attend Hornell Prayer Vigil For Melissa Eason
January 14, 2013
HORNELL, NY - Kimberly Smith, certified lay speaker for the United Presbyterian Church, led Sunday evening's prayer vigil in Hornell, recalling the life of Melissa Eason, who was found dead in her Texas home on January 1. "Although Melissa's death was a tragic and untimely one, let us not dwell on hatred or revenge. Let Melissa's death not be in vain, but rather keep her memory alive with happy thoughts and laughter," Smith told those present.
"She always had a smile when she waited on us at the Texas Cafe," Smith said. "Let the memory of that smile brighten the days ahead." After reading a passage from the New Testament, Smith also noted that "I believe that Melissa this New Jerusalem as we speak."
