NYS Unemployment Rate Down Slightly
Yearly job growth continues at a record level
The New York State Department of Labor is reporting that the state’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 8.7-percent last month, that's down from 8.9-percent in September, although it's still higher than the 8.2-percent in October, 2011.
The Labor Department also says New York State's economy added 5,900 private sector jobs in October. The job growth brings the total to 110,300 private sector jobs added to the state’s economy in 2012 and sets an all-time high job count for New York at 7,340,100.
