1.74 % Tax Increase For Hornell
Hornell Stays Under 2 Percent Tax Cap
February 20, 2012
HORNELL, NY - The Hornell Common Council have voted for a 1.74% tax increase, keeping them under the state's two percent tax cap. "Obviously we're not exceeding the tax cap, and we're well below it," Hogan told those present at Monday night's council meeting.
Hornell aldermen Angelo Scotti (D, 2nd ward) and Joe Foreman (D, 5th ward), both members of the Finance Committee, were pleased. ""After we discussed it a few times they brought it down," said Angelo Scotti. "Zero would be perfect, but with the skyrocketing pension costs there was just no way, but 1.74 is pretty good," the 2nd ward Democrat told WLEA/WCKR News. "The first tax increase in five years," said Foreman. "I think it's very reasonable."
