Mayor Hogan Gives 2012 State of the City Speech
February 20, 2012
HORNELL, NY - Mayor Shawn Hogan (D) gave his 2012 State of the City of Hornell speech at Monday night's Common Council meeting. Hogan began by acknowledging that it was his second to last speech as Hornell's mayor. "This is my 27th State of the City speech, with one more to go in my capacity as mayor of this great City of Hornell," Hogan said. The longtime Democrat mayor spoke of Electrical Power Works moving into the old Marion Rohr building, as well as TTA's future expansion, and the new YMCA building on Center Street.
Hogan also spoke out against slum lords. "We will aggressively seek punishment for those who continue to show a disregard for our community by promoting or owning substandard property," Hogan stated.
The Hornell mayor also talked about moving on from the old days and looking towards a positive future. "Rather than lamenting on how things used to be, we should be focused on our future and all the wonderful positive things that are taking place in our community and what is yet to come," Hogan told those present at Monday night's council meeting.
