State Police Arrested 26 in January for Welfare Fraud
Defendants defrauded New York of over $192,000 in Unemployment Insurance benefits
During the month of January, the New York State Police working in conjunction with the Department of Labor Office of Special Investigations arrested 26 individuals for defrauding New York State of over $192,000.00 in Unemployment Insurance benefits. Each one of these individuals was working while claiming Unemployment benefits.
All the individuals were arrested by Rochester-based State Police and charged with Grand Larceny, Offering False Instrument for filing and Falsifying Business Records 1st, all Felonies. The individuals ages range from 23 to 56.
