Young Girl Dragged by School Bus

Her backpack got caught in the door as the bus pulled away

An 8 year old girl was injured in a school bus incident in the town of Ossian.

State Police say the driver of the Dansville Central School bus had stopped on Route 436 to drop off three sisters Wednesday afternoon.  As the third girl was exiting the bus, the driver told troopers he wasn't paying attention when he closed the door, trapping the girl's backpack in the door.  He then drove about 900 feet before realizing the girl was being dragged outside the bus.

The 8 year old was treated at Noyes Hospital for abrasions.

Another student on the bus stated he hit his head on the seat in front of him when the bus came to a sudden stop which caused an ear ache.
