NY's Archbishop Banning Catholic Priests, Deacons, Employees From Taking Part in Gay Marriages

November 12 2011

NEW YORK CITY, NY - It appears that there is a conflict brewing between Church and State. Even though Governor Andrew Cuomo worked to get gay marriage passed in New York State last June, the archbishop of New York is in opposition to the new law.

Archbishop Timothy Dolan has issued a decree saying that no Catholic clergyman in New York State can perform a gay wedding. Also, there can be no gay marriages on Catholic Church property, and Catholic Church employees are forbidden to take part in homosexual marriage ceremonies that take place outside of Catholic Church property.

Dolan also indicated in his decree, that anyone who breaks the rules will be subject to Church discipline.

I'm not sure but maybe this "conflict brewing between Church and State" is what (generically) separation of Church and State means...and frankly that's fine with me.
It's a good first step, make sure to enforce it. While you're at it, make sure not to allow any sacraments to politicians who are "Pro Choice". I know it's been talked about and maybe happened, on occasion, but not enough.

Cardinal Egan is still the "on the books Cardinal for the Diocese of NY until his 80th birthday. Archbishop Dolan, as of of yet, has not been made a Cardinal of the Church. He will most likely be made a Cardinal, after Cardinal Egan's 80th birthday.
