His actions follow court ruling against one-day furloughs

The New York Times reports that Gov. David Paterson is now looking to eliminate state jobs, thus cutting down on the number of state employees.  This follows the court decision last  week that killed his plans for a one-day-per-week furlough.  State unions went to court to fight that plan.

The Times reports that Paterson is now drafting a plan that would eliminate thousands of state jobs beginnig next year. The governor reportedly has asked department heads in the state to determine which positions could be eliminated.
