WLEA/WCKR NEWS broke major local story...that has made it's way into WALL STREET JOURNAL

In February 2009, WLEA/WCKR broke a story about how a wind farmer in Cohocton was complaining about the loud noise being made by wind turbines.  That wind farmer, Hal Graham, was written about in a recent edition of the Wall Street Journal.  The article, "The Brewing Tempest Over Wind Power," by Robert Bryce, mentioned Graham in a paragraph about how the turbines should not be near people's homes.

"In theory, big wind projects should only be built in desolate areas," wrote Bryce. "But the reality is that many turbines are being installed close to homes...Hal Graham, a retired office manager in Cohocton, N.Y., complains about the noise pollution caused by a turbine 300 meters from his home."

Also mentioned in the Wall Street Journal article was Canadian physician Dr. Robert McMurtry, a guest on AM 1480 WLEA's Newsmaker Show.  "Across the border, Ontario-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert McMurtry has been researching wind turbine noise for the past 18 months," Bryce noted.  "Dr. McMurtry, a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, counts more than 100 people in Ontario he believes are experiencing adverse effects from turbine noise.  'It has compromised their health,' he says.

Bryce's Wall Street Journal article is not the only sign that the major media is changing it's tune about wind energy.  Both Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have made critical comments about wind in recent shows, and Limbaugh has on more than one occasion has called wind energy "a hoax".
