Kerr: Solving School Spending Includes Taking on School Unions
Special Interests an Issue
Dr. Ralph Kerr, former Arkport Central School Superintendent, appeared on the newsmaker show with Kevin Doran this week. Kerr told Doran that teachers unions in New York State are powerful, and that these groups are very influential over state lawmakers in New York. "The teacher's unions in New York are the biggest contributors to the political parties, and so...to get them to them (lawmakers) to change the tenure laws or to move away from any of the rights that the teacher's unions have is going to be really difficult, when those are the groups that are...funding the political campaigns for all of the incumbents," said Kerr.
