Hornell woman suffers head injury

A Hornell woman taken to Strong Hospital after being hit by a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon in Hornell.

City police say the driver of the pickup, Scott Solow, 49, from Long Island, told them he was eastbound on Main Street, began to turn left onto Maple City Drive and did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk. He struck Annette Lehman, 62, of Hornell, causing her to spin around and fall to the ground severely striking her head.

Lehman was first taken to St. James Hospital, then transferred to Strong in Rochester with a head injury. She's reported in guarded condition.

Solow was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
