48 year old Penfield man dies after hitting a tree

Elliot Eklund, 48, of Penfield, died at Geneva General Hospital.  According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Department, Eklund passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a snowboarding accident at Bristol Mountain. 

Officials say that initial autopsy results show that Mr. Eklund died of a massive skull fracture, consistent with striking a tree.  According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Department, no signs of any medical events occuring prior to the accident were detected during Eklund's autopsy. 

Eklund was found unresponsive on a ski trail at Bristol Mountain, in Ontario County.
