New York State will pay rebates to those trading up to energy-star appliances

Starting today, New Yorkers turning in older appliances for newer energy-star efficient models will be paid rebates ranging from $50 to $75 under a new program approved by The Empire State.

Mike Deebs, owner of SEARS-HORNELL, says he expects a lot of people will be trading in their older refrigerators, washers, dryers and other appliances for the energy-star models which are more cost and energy efficient.

Naturally, there is a question about how the cash hungry State of New York can do all this but the program has been approved and promoted in Albany.

In fact, those turning in three appliances and buying three energy efficient models will receive a state rebate of $500.
