Speaking of George Hochbrueckner’s guitar playing, one listener said it’s “like an out-of-control locomotive that seems like it might go off the track, but never does."

On Saturday, March 13th, the locomotive that is GEORGE HOCHBRUECKNER will arrive at Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café in Angelica for a 7:30 performance.

Mr. Hochbrueckner of Geneseo, NY plays an eclectic mix of styles and nuances, borrowing from acoustic guitar greats Michael Hedges and Phil Keaggy. He’s also been influenced by U2's edge; 60's surf rock; Crosby, Stills and Nash; good old rock; blues & jazz mixtures like the Allmans, Van Morrison and the Grateful Dead.

Hochbrueckner is a recording engineer and part-owner of Bluebrick Recordings in East Avon.  His first album, titled “Celticafricousticelectric” was issued in 2007 and has been reviewed as follows: “GH dabbles in Beach Boys themes, surf, blues, R&B, college rock,  and even laid-back coffeehouse vibes. For an indy project, this goes well with a long cigar.”

A regular performer at Muddy Waters Coffee House in Geneseo, he sits in with musician friends that he’s recorded at Bluebrick. Hochbrueckner also scored most of the soundtrack for a documentary film, "The Warrior Ethos",  about the mandatory boxing program for cadets at West Point. This film went national on Pay per View in 2007.

Don Ash of Black-Eyed Susan Acoustic Café comments, “I first heard George perform years ago late at night. I was impressed by his talent, and his insight and intuition. I’ve known plenty of talented musicians who lack basic people skills. George has it all. He showed me he understood how to read his audience. It will be great to have him perform for our audience in Angelica.”

The doors at Black-Eyed Susan open for dinner, specialty coffees and desserts at 4:30 every Saturday. Enjoy the mellow sounds of Jim Schwartz on guitar beginning at 6:00, with Mr. Hochbrueckner beginning at 7:30 p.m.

There is no cover charge, but guests are expected to contribute to the musician’s tip jar.  The kitchen remains open on Saturdays until 10:00 p.m. and the café closes at 11:00.  Reservations for dinner -- while never necessary -- are strongly encouraged.

Also in March: folk and acoustic rock music with JONNY GEEZE on Mar. 20th; and alternative folk and rock duo BETHEL STEELE and SIERRA ROCKS on Mar 27th.  The complete schedule is posted at www.black-eyed-susan.com.

Black-Eyed Susan is located at 22 West Main Street in Angelica’s Park Circle National Historic District.  The café is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Guests can dine in with a beautiful view of Park Circle, or have a meal delivered to their home or workplace.  Menus are posted on-line.
