Budget workshop dates set…

The North Hornell Village Board met in regular session Monday night and set February 22nd (6pm) and March 1st (6pm) as their first open workshops for the new village budget.  The budget is due by April 1st and will go into effect on June 1st.  Other notes from the meeting:

-The initial estimate to repair Engine 85 is $131,679.21.  The engine was damaged in a collision in early January while responding to a call.  The village is awaiting the final and official estimate before deciding on how to proceed.

-The village chose to accept a bid from Joe Johnson Equipment of $116,690 for a Vactor 2105 combination sewer truck to safely maintain the municipality’s sewer system.

-The board will be bringing the village codebook up to date with the help of General Code LLC which specializes in bringing small town codes and ordinances in line with the state.  The survey of current codes could take almost a year, so the village will use resolutions to target specific compliance issues as they arise.

-The next general meeting will be March 8th.
