WILL PATERSON RESIGN?
Rumors flying that Paterson may be forced to step down when a New York Times article appears
Albany has always been a rumor mill but the latest buzz is causing new concerns about the future of David Paterson. The Albany Times-Union, generally the best informed paper on state affairs, reports that that the speculation centers around a story the New York Times is holding which, if published, would force the resignation of the governor who replaced Eliot Spitzer, who was forced to resign following a sex scandal.
Sunday afternoon, the Crain's Business Insider Web site published a post citing "a single source familiar with the goings-on at the governor's office" who indicated that the Times' story would run today. Crain's Joe Weisenthal wrote that, according to the source, "the governor's resignation will follow."
However there is no such article in the Times today. The Huffington Post, a left wing publication, suggests that Paterson may also be caught up in a sex scandal.
