UNEMPLOYMENT IN STEUBEN COUNTY GREATER THAN NATIONAL AVERAGE

Allegany County has less unemployment than Steuben

The unemployment average for the nation is now 9.7%---down three-tenths of one percent from December.  Only December figures are available for Steuben and Allegany counties at this point.  In December. Steuben County had a 10.2% unemployment figure and Allegany 8.8%.

Normally, the January unemployment figures show a rise between December and January but state percentages will not be available until later this month.
