Jason Aldean Glad Success Came Later In Life
Jason Aldean is glad he didn’t become successful when he was young. Jason began playing music when he was 14 and moved to Nashville at 21. But his first single didn’t come out until he was 28. Aldean says “life has definitely changed for sure.” Jason says the fact that it happened a little later for him helped him “prepare for it a little better and learn to kind of appreciate it once it did finally happen.” Aldean’s next stop on his “Wide Open” tour is Thursday in Cedar Park, Texas.
Jack Ingram’s Song A Week
It’s not known if Jack Ingram has broken his big New Year’s resolution yet or if he’s sticking with it. Jack promised to write one song a week. When he came up with the resolution he said, “Not saying they’ll be good, just done.” Ingram said the only way to get it done “will be less TV and more reading.” Jack’s getting ready for his solo acoustic tour, which kicks off February 13th in Chicago.
Kellie Pickler’s New ‘Do
Kellie Pickler has changed her hairstyle again. She’s cut it short, pixie-style. Pickler tells People magazine her hair had gotten so damaged by switching from blonde to red and back to blonde that it started falling out. She says she “had two choices – look like a scarecrow or cut it.” Pickler says having short hair makes her feel like she’s set herself apart from the other women in country music. She says she was in love with Lorrie Morgan’s hairstyles growing up and how she “always thought she was beautiful and confident.”
Hank Jr. And His ‘Rowdy Friends’ To Tour
Hank Williams Jr. has announced the first dates for his “Rowdy Friends Tour 2010” with Jamey Johnson, Eric Church and The Grascals. The tour kicks off April 2nd in Charleston, West Virginia, with additional dates to be announced soon.
Chesney Headed To Sin City
Kenny Chesney has added four Las Vegas shows to his concert calendar this year. He’ll perform at the Joint at the Hard Rock Las Vegas on May 14-15, as well as July 2-3. The newly-expanded venue holds 4,000 people. Chesney is currently working on his next studio album, expected to be released in the fall. He will release a new single, “Ain’t Back Yet,” on February 8th. His film, “Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D,” will be released on April 21st.
Bluegrass At The Grammys
A special bluegrass performance featuring Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson, banjo player Alison Brown, singer-songwriters Jim Lauderdale and Michael Martin Murphey, guitarist Bryan Sutton and singer-fiddler Gabe Witcher will be featured during Sunday’s pre-telecast at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Benson is nominated in a new category, Best Americana Album, for “Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel.” Brown’s “Under the (Five) Wire” is up for Best Country Instrumental Performance. Among this year’s nominees for Best Bluegrass Albums are Murphey’s “Buckaroo Blue Grass,” Sutton’s “Bryan Sutton and Friends,” and Lauderdale’s “Could We Get Any Closer?” The pre-telecast will be streamed live atgrammy.com. The 52nd annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS.
Strait/McEntire Show Breaks Records
George Strait and Reba McEntire have broken concert ticket records in Oklahoma after selling out their upcoming Tulsa date in less than an hour. Saturday’s ticket rush marks the first time in the history of the Bank of Oklahoma Center that over 18,000 tickets have been sold for one event. Lee Ann Womack will join the two country music icons when they perform in Tulsa on February 20th.
